COMPANY HISTORY

A & K MacKay Building Company Pty Ltd was established in 1982. At the time the business was principally involved with larger businesses in commercial and industrial project management.

An opportunity arose in 1992 to become more involved in the residential building industry renovating and extension of homes. It appeared that other building businesses were more eager to erect new dwellings rather than renovate old established homes, re-creating a market that appeared forgotten in the new home boom. A & K MacKay Building Company Pty Ltd met the demand for renovations and extensions through a network of reliable, highly-skilled tradesmen, prompt suppliers and quality products.

In 1999 A & K MacKay Building Company Pty Ltd was approached to build fourteen aged care units in the Newcastle area. This project marked a turning point for the company into a new market – units for the general public and aged care facilities.

Today, A & K MacKay Building Company Pty Ltd employs 11 people. The company has a proven history of strong working relationships with its clientele resulting in repeat business from satisfied clients.

ALLAN MACKAY

DIRECTOR, BUILDER SUPERVISOR

Forty (40) years in the Building and Construction Industry. Has been involved in all areas and facets of the industry – residential, commercial and industrial. Has experience in all types of works from large projects such as multiplex units, tilt slab constructions through to maintenance works.

MICHAEL JEFFS

SENIOR ESTIMATOR

Twenty seven (27) years in the Building and Construction Industry. Has been involved in all areas and facets of the industry – residential,
commercial and industrial. Restoration works. Has experience in all types of works from large projects such as multi storey, multiplex units through to maintenance and restoration works.

WILLEM VAN RUGGE

ESTIMATOR

Experience working within the public service sector as well as in the building industry.

IAN CONVERY

SUPERVISOR

Thirty Four (34) years in the Building and Construction Industry. Has been involved in all areas and facets of the industry – residential and commercial. Has experience in large projects such as multiplex units, school extensions through to maintenance works.

ROBERT MELLON

SUPERVISOR

Forty five (45) years in the Building and Construction Industry. Has been involved in all areas and facets of the industry — residential, commercial and industrial. Has experience in all types of works from large projects such as multiplex units down to maintenance works.

PHILLIP DALE

SUPERVISOR

Thirty four (34) years in the Building and Construction Industry. Has been in involved in all areas and facets of the industry — residential, commercial and industrial Has experience in all types of work including, but not limited to — additions and alterations through to aged care facilities, education facilities and large commercial complexes.

MICHAEL PARKER

PROJECT MANAGER

Thirty five (35) years experience in the Building and Construction industry. Has been involved in all areas and facets of the industry — residential, commercial and industrial. Has experience with all facets of a company and has been involved in projects from renovations and shop fit outs through to aged care facilities & public works including health facilities and emergency service facilities.

KERRIE MACKAY

ACCOUNTS MANAGER

Thirty Six (36) years’ experience in office administration. Duties have and include Receptionist, Bookkeeping, Payroll, Invoicing, Job Costing, Data Entry, Correspondence, Mail, Liaison with Clients.

MEGHAN JOHNS

OFFICE ADMIN

Six (6) years’ experience in office administration. Duties have included Receptionist, Data entry, Mail, Accounts Payable and Receivable, Customer Service, Mail.

REBECCA CAMERON

OFFICE ADMIN

Seven (7) years’ experience in office administration. Duties have and include Receptionist, Bookkeeping, Payroll, Invoicing, Data Entry, Correspondence, Mail, Liaison with Clients.  Eight (8) years’ experience in clinical roles. Clinical areas include occupational rehabilitation, orthopaedic, neurological, medical, surgical and reconditioning rehabilitation.
